I have Converted
I have seen the RSS light. All you bloggers who have been at this for longer than I have are probably thinking "duh!", but for a while I was quite skeptical as to what good RSS could possibly be. Who cares if I can translate my blog into XML? After researching it a little further and playing with some Estonian freeware (yes, Estonian), I figured out that, using RSS, I could
- Satisfy my obsessive-compulsive desire to know everything immediately, but
- Not waste valuable work time constantly checking Chattablogs, ATLBlogs, CovBlogs, and other miscellaneous blogs of interest.
- Get news and geek stuff delivered to me without the bother of email to delete
- Check a broader range of blogs, since I'm not wasting time checking them manually
Most of the time, technological products make my life, if not a fiery hell, at least an uncomfortably warm purgatory. Every now and then, though, something comes along that is genuinely helpful.
Now, if only Dave Barry and Google would do RSS feeds.
September 6, 2003 07:55 PMIf you like RSS, you should check out my search engine, blogdigger.com. It indexes RSS feeds. We do some cool stuff with links and topic sorting. Check it out.
I'm still working on getting my BaltiBlog set up!
