The storm
Isabel appears to have done her worst and is moving on through. Aside from us being knocked back to the 19th century and plenty of debris strewn across our yard, we seem to have made out OK, at least compared to the house down the street that had a good section of the siding ripped off. Hopefully the power will come back on soon. Right now I'm huddled over my laptop, using my handy-dandy NetZero backup connection.
I keep trying to access the BGE site to see if there are any estimates as to when the power will come on, but the server only returns server errors. That is understandable, but frustrating.
Another frustrating thing is that I killed one of the tires on my wife's car by coming a little too close to a curb at a corner where I was trying to watch for traffic coming the other way. I had no one to blame but myself. Still, having to change a spare tire as the remnants of a tropical storm/hurricane blast through and then finding out the spare is also flat, is, well, frustrating. (The violinists can stop playing now).
All in all, our house is standing and we are safe, so we have much to be thankful for.
