Christian Jerks
I once heard the quote "I love Jesus, but I can't stand his bride."
In a way, I can be very sympathetic to that quote. On a global and historical level, Christians have committed adultery, molested young boys, raped young girls, murdered Muslims, burned suspected heretics and drowned witches. On a personal level, I have seen Christians brutally attack close friends and family members, causing great pain and hardship.
Yet, it seems to me that statement is like me coming up to a good friend and saying "you're a great guy, but your wife is mean and ugly." If that friend is worth anything, he would thrash me, and rightly so.
Yes, Christians have done all of the atrocities I have listed. And the horror of what they have done is so serious that God sent Jesus to pay the penalty for their sins. Who am I to question that?
"Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. Go and learn what this means, 'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.' For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners." (Matthew 9:12,13)
