further notes at the end of the day
I finished reading E. J. Young's Thy Word is Truth tonight for my systematics class. Its a good book: it covers the discussion on Biblical inerrancy, liberalism, modernism, and neo-orthodoxy in a clear and helpful manner.
The fun thing is that, for most of the book, Young sounds like a preacher. He is very passionate and uses many illustrations. But, apparently Young was also quite well versed, so he'll switch from polemics directly into a discussion on the effect of Kant on liberal theology or the intricate details of ancient Near Eastern culture as a validation for the practices found in the book of Genesis.
In a completely unrelated aside, I am now convinced that the most powerful blogger in the blogosphere is not Andrew Sullivan, Glen Reynolds, Mickey Kaus, or anyone like that. It is Dave Barry, who doesn't really blog about anything. Yet I've seen his blog quoted in World Magazine, InstaPundit, and Best of the Web. (I could be bothered to find the actual references, but, really, my vision is bigger than that).
