Christmas is upon us

It is now Christmas Eve. As I've gotten older (and hopefully wiser), I think that my appreciation of Christmas has grown significantly.

At first, of course, the big deal is that I got lots of presents. As I got older and what I really wanted was usually far out of anyone's budget (plasma screen TV anyone? anyone? please!?), my focus had to change a little bit.

This year I've appreciated Christmas as an opportunity to spend time with friends and family. Since my wife and I live 2 hrs from the nearest relative, and my folks are down in Atlanta, we don't get to see them nearly as much as we'd like. Christmas is a welcome opportunity to catch up on life and keep up with relationships and friendships.
