Almost Done
This last week has been insane.
On top of various project deadlines, it's also been finals time for classes. I'm only taking two, but there hasn't been any time up until this week to even get to studying for papers or preparing for exams, so I've had to do it all in the last five days. Yesterday I took the day largely off to write a 12 page paper (Gen 12:1-3 as it unfolds in Genesis - Joshua, if anyone cares) due at midnight last night along with a take-home, honor system style, final exam (which I don't think I did all that well in). This means today I need to catch up on work stuff and so will be spending a glorious Saturday behind a computer once again. Ah, well.
Everything should be wrapped up this coming Thursday. I have a pretty simple open-ended paper and another final exam due then. I'm debating on whether to do either an evaluation of Harry Potter or a discussion on blogging for the paper. :)
In spite of all the work and the lack of sleep, I really enjoy all of the studying; I just wish I had more time. The books by Alter and Clines that I've got listed on my sideblog were fascinating. David Dorsey's The Literary Structure of the Old Testament and VanGemeren's The Progress of Redemption were two other books I went through, but haven't listed because I only read the parts relevant to my reading.
The odd thing is that, since almost all of what I've been doing outside of work has been Pentateuchal studies, I'm beginning to think in chiasms. I've wondered if it would be possible to start structuring blog posts in chiastic structures. I don't think I'm that talented, however.

Pondered by aishel at April 25, 2004 10:20 AMMy students have their finals coming up in three weeks too. :) I gotta have their grades in a week after the finals. Guess I should go grade those lab reports! (yes, I know, finals are MUCH harder on students than on professors... though I'd assert it's not THAT much worse) :)
My advice to teachers is this: Grade papers early and on time, and you'll make all the difference in the world! I'm *still* waiting for my grade on a paper (worth 25% of my entire grade) that I handed in at the beginning of March). This has become mine as well as many other people in my classes main pet peeve.
