Idle and frivolous, yet still enjoyable, speculation

Book 6 of the Harry Potter series is apparently going to be entitled "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince." This leads to the obvious question: who is "the Half Blood Prince"? The first candidate would be Voldemort, since (if I remember correctly) he was not a pure-blood and he was kind of a prince. But Rowling has already said the reference is to "neither Harry nor Voldemort."

My current theory is that the Half Blood Prince is actually Hagrid. This is based on three reasons.

First, Hagrid is half-giant. That's not much, but it is worth something.

Second, "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" was apparently the working title of Chamber of Secrets. To be a working title would require that it convey something about one of the major characters or themes in the book. The closest I can think of is Hagrid, as the question of the guilt or innocence of Hagrid was a decently significant point.

Third, to put it simply: I can't think of anyone else. Who else was both half-anything and important to Chamber of Secrets?

I don't consider these to be definitive reasons, so I will be interested to hear/read any other opions. (Greg? Penny?)

Gosh, I hope it isn't Hagrid- I have slowly but surely come to hate that character. I do not want to see an entire book dedicated to him. I think it might be a lesser known perhaps even not known at all character who will (obviously) have a significant impact on HP's life. I am not such a great prognosticator.

Doh, maphet. you beat me again to the hp news. Now what am I going to blog about? I don't know if I would like it to be Hagrid or not. Up to this point, Hagrid has been a cool part of the story, but without much depth. I don't know if depth will work with him though. You could do it with Sirius or Snape, but Hagrid is kind of ho-hum. Curse you mapher for working at home and bloggging faster. don't feel bad. it is the beer talking.

Interesting. You are probably right. Book 2 is the key.

I'm also embarrased to ask for the proper sequence for the bricks - I spent close to a half hour trying to get it to no avail.

I worked at it for a little while. Then I got bored and looked it up here. :)
