Coming up for air
I'm trying to finish up everything that's due this weekend for my church history class, which means that I have read much, written a fair amount, slept little, and imbibed a truly unhealthy amount of coffee (thank you rarecoffee.com!). Because, well, everything's due this weekend - term paper, readings, final exam, blahblahblahblah.
All that to say, my favorite quote from church history so far has been this, in a letter from Luther to his wife:
To my dearly beloved Katie, Mrs. Doctor Luther, etc., to the lady at the new pig market:
Personal.
Grace and peace! Dear Maid Katie, Gracious Lady of Zolsdorf (and whatever other nams your Grace has)! I wish humbly to inform your Grace that I am doing well here. I eat like a Bohemian and drink like a German; thanks be to God for this. Amen.
I'm thinking of that as a new motto: eat like a Bohemian and drink like a German! Not that I actually know what eating like a Bohemian looks like.
