Things that make me cranky

Headlines like this: Schiavo Story Pits Faith Against Science. One would think upon reading said headline that, once again, those irrational Neanderthal fundamentalists are up to their tricks again by overriding clear facts and using a poor victim to advance their twisted theocratic political agenda.

Until you read a little bit down: "[A] group of 30 doctors and nurses ... have signed affidavits testifying [that] she is not in [a persistent vegetative] state, and that there is a chance for recovery." Hmmm ... the 30 doctors and nurses must obviously be fundamentalist wackos as well.

[I had a bunch of very sarcastic remarks lined up for the remainder of my post. However, at this point I can't tell if they're coming from righteous outrage at the ad hominem logic I keep seeing on this ("everyone who wants her to live is just using her for a political cause so, therefore, she should die") or because I haven't had enough sleep in a while. So, I shall abandon all pretensions of sardonic wittiness and simply encourage you that if you really do think all the facts are clearly in favor of the immediate starvation of Terri Schiavo to, please, read at least a little more].
