Cell Phones and Airplanes

I am beginning to think that the new rule allowing cell phone use immediately after landing is not a good idea. Today, just after landing in LA, an older woman across the aisle (who had spent the majority of the 5-hr flight applying makeup, it seemed) dialed her cell phone and proceeded to yell into it:

I'VE LANDED NOW. I NEED TO GO TO THE LADIES' ROOM AND THEN I'LL MEET YOU.

I think I saw people 6 rows up who were laughing.

Pervasive cell phone use is annoying as it is. I've heard arguments that they should keep the ban on cell phones all together, if for no other reason than to just keep people off the phone when they're packed sardine-style into a plane.
