Darwin on Trial Phillip Johnson
Part of required reading for the apologetics class coming up. Johnson's a pretty smart guy and Darwin on Trial is clear, thoughtful, and intelligent. Johnson appears to be succeeding where many "creationists" have failed: provoking in-depth, honest dialog on the presuppositions (rather than just the mechanics) behind modern evolutionary science.
Every Man's Battle Arberburn, Stoeker, Yorkey
Hadn't read this since I've been married and thought it'd be a good brush-up. It was and I would recommend it to others on the subject. It is clear, convicting, and challenging.
Two complaints, though. First, he sometimes descends into the common evangelical tendency to encourage men by giving them a football pep talk: "be a man! Stand firm! Go team God!" and so on. Second, there is also a tendency to be mechanically formulaic, while leaving out the elements of sin, repentance, and grace that are needed.
